  3. IRIX 6.5.4 Installation Tools and Overlays, May 1999 README

  7. This CD contains the miniroot and other components necessary to boot
  8. the system into the basic installation environment for operating
  9. system installs and upgrades. It also contains documentation called
  10. "Customer Welcome", which includes Start Here pages that provide important
  11. information you should read before you install this release of IRIX.
  12.  
  13.  To view the Start Here pages:
  14.  1. Insert the Installation Tools and Overlays CD 1-of-2 May 1999
  15.     into the CD-ROM drive.
  16.  2. Open a Web browser and enter the following address:
  17.     file:/CDROM/WhatsNew/yourSystem.html
  18.  
  19.       NOTE: Literally type yourSystem.html; do not
  20.             type your actual system name.
  21.  
  22.  3. Click the "Start Here" link.

  33. Carefully follow the instructions in the CD booklet that came packaged
  34. with the 6.5.4 CDs.  It is especially important to follow the
  35. instructions when upgrading from a release prior to IRIX 6.5.  Among
  36. other things, these instructions tell you how to insert all
  37. applicable IRIX 6.5 CDROMs  (or open all network distribution
  38. directories) as well as the 6.5.4 CDROMs, before issuing any "keep"
  39. or "install" commands.  If this is not done, your installation will
  40. not be successful (you will get unresolvable conflicts). Refer to the
  41. CD installation booklet for a list of applicable and necessary CDs.
